Not to get all feminist on you (yesterday’s Postcard, Facing up to the female power conundrum, steered in that direction), but since I just returned from the Sundance Film Festival, I’m eager to share this video that landed in my inbox.

The Women’s Media Center at Sundance shot the video to raise awareness of the gender disparity in filmmaking. This is a hot topic that Jennifer Siebel Newsom explores in Miss Representation, her documentary that I saw at the Festival on Saturday.

And with the Academy Awards coming up on Sunday, February 27, it’s worth noting that since the first Oscars ceremony was held in 1929, only four women have been nominated for Best Director.

Only one woman has won.

Who is she? Kathryn Bigelow won Best Director for The Hurt Locker last year.
