If you are an entrepreneur looking to get in some test runs before meeting with real-life VCs — and your dog doesn’t provide adequate feedback — you should consider presenting next month at the VCIC Finals in Chapel Hill.
For the uninitiated, VCIC is a competition in which teams of b-school students form “VC firms.” They get pitched by real entrepreneurs, conduct due diligence, draw up term sheets for their desired investment, negotiate and then get grilled by judges like yours truly. There are dozens of internal competitions, followed by 10 regional contests and then the Finals in Chapel Hill (April 14-16).
It’s a great chance for entrepreneurs to hone your pitch, get grilled by dozens of future VCs (I promise they will ask questions you don’t yet have answers for) and improve your negotiation skills. Plus, you get to schmooze with the judges — including actual investors from firms like True Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz and Johnson & Johnson Dev Corp.
