Welcome to the new workweek. Congratulations to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, pediatrician Priscilla Chan, who are expecting a baby girl. Polyvore co-founder Jess Lee is now working for her old boss, Marissa Mayer. Square could be a public company this fall, but there are some pretty good reasons for Zynga to go private again. Finally, Data Sheet is officially a one-year-old newsletter this week. Celebrate its birthday. Encourage a colleague to subscribe. Enjoy your Monday!

TOP OF MIND

Yahoo fancies fashionistas. It is paying an undisclosed sum for Polyvore, which has emerged as an influential search and discovery channel for many fashion and lifestyle brands. The deal reunites Polyvore CEO Jess Lee with her mentor, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer.

Faster than Facebook. It took Uber only five years to reach its $50 billion valuation.

Surprise, Square could go public this fall. The company may be growing quicker than you think—maybe even faster than PayPal—largely due to its expanding portfolio of financial management services for small businesses.

There's a good case for taking Zynga private. At least four different investor groups have considered a buyout of the gaming company over the past 12 months. The return of co-founder Mark Pincus as CEO has complicated matters.

Another day, another $100 million security bet. Zscaler sells a service that scrubs a company's Internet traffic without requiring an "appliance." Its new round, led by TPG Growth, comes one month after CrowdStrike raised the same amount from Google Capital.

They drive a hard bargain. A consortium of German automakers including Audi, BMW and Daimler is paying $3 billion to buy Nokia's digital maps division. The technology will be used to steer autonomous vehicles.

Meanwhile, Alcatel-Lucent's CEO is stepping aside on Sept. 1, as its $16.6 billion sale to Nokia nears completion.

Drone roundtable: Cooling down the UAV hype

In the world of unmanned aerial vehicles—better known as UAVs or drones—it can be hard to tell up from down. The FAA is still developing rules, while everyone from giants like Amazon to startups like Matternet promise the sky. One of the Wall Street Journal's lead technology stories this morning talks up using tethers to extend battery life, improve data connections, and keep drones from wandering away.

According to insiders, slow regulation has let imaginations run a little too wild. To help clear the air, Fortune gathered insiders from the business, policy, and technical sides of the developing industry to talk about recent progress—and some obstacles that may be larger than they appear.

Visit Fortune.com for insights from Gretchen West, a consultant who previously headed a UAV trade association; Lisa Ellman, a former policy advisor to the Obama administration; and James Grimsley, a researcher and drone-maker CEO.
