President Obama is in Alaska for three days this week in an effort to promote aggressive actions to fight climate change as well as meet with local Alaska Native tribes.
He’s already made a bold move, restoring the highest peak in North America to its original Mt. Denali moniker. It was most recently known as Mt. McKinley.
But the president isn’t stopping there: He’s going even more extreme, and this time in real life.
The leader of the U.S. will meet up with Bear Grylls, host of the NBC show “Running Wild,” which features him training various celebrities in the art of survival in nature. So far, Kate Winslet, Drew Brees, Zac Effron, and Channing Tatum are some of the celebrities that have tested their outdoor prowess with Grylls.
“President Obama will meet with Grylls while visiting Alaska to observe the effects of climate change on the area,” NBC said in a statement. “The two will then come together in the Alaskan Wilderness. President Obama will become the first U.S. president to receive a crash course in survival techniques from Bear Grylls.”
The episode will air on NBC later this year.
