CNN will stream the next Republican debate for free online—no cable authentication code needed.
That means you can get Donald Trump (and the other presidential hopefuls) streaming on pretty much any device: smartphone, laptop, tablet, or regular old cable TV, if that’s your jam.
The cable news network is making a concerted effort to draw in new viewers, and if the first debate is any indication of viewership the event could be a huge win for CNN. About 24 million people tuned into the first debate on Fox News, setting the viewership record for a party’s presidential debate.
CNN’s U.S. head of editorial operations and worldwide digital told Mashable about the move:
“We are offering this as a preview. To me, there’s a longer play here, which is that we want our audiences to know this is a service they can get from CNN going forward.”
The debate will air on Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. ET.
