Donald Trump is losing for the first time in a long time, and he is frankly perplexed.
The real estate mogul is now running second in national polling, right behind Dr. Ben Carson.
On MSNBC today, Trump said he wasn’t sure why he was suddenly losing.
“I don’t get it,” Trump said, according to CNN. “I’m going there (to Iowa) actually today and I have tremendous crowds and I have tremendous love in the room and, you know, we seem to have hit a chord. But some of these polls coming out, I don’t quite get it.”
Carson has also grabbed the lead in polls out of the Hawkeye State, which holds the nation’s first caucuses in January. One possible reason for that is that Carson has played up his appeal to Christian conservatives, who make up a big portion of voters in Iowa’s Republican contest.
After saying he didn’t get his sudden dip in popularity, Trump upped his attacks on Carson, claiming the doctor wants to abolish Medicaid.
Carson and Trump will be on the same stage again tomorrow at the latest Republican debate.
