The downtown Los Angeles skyline is about to get a thrilling new addition: a glass slide that will go from the 70th to the 69th floor of the U.S. Bank Tower.
The skyscraper is the tallest building west of the Mississippi and portions of the downtown building have been undergoing a $50 million renovation, which will add on a new, two-floor observation deck. The SkySlide, as its called, will connect down to that outdoor area, reported Curbed Los Angeles.
The glass Skyslide will extend 36 feet and sit nearly 1,000 feet above the ground. The four-inch thick glass gives riders the surreal view down, trumping other stationary all-glass observation decks like Chicago’s Willis Tower.
The new attraction, which is expected to cost $25 to ride down, was designed by architects Gensler. The Skyspace project is anticipated to open in mid-2016.
