On June 4, Angelina Jolie turns 41. Along with being an award-winning actress, Jolie is a successful film director, renowned humanitarian and one of the world’s most powerful women. She’s also raising a globe-trotting family with A-list actor Brad Pitt and is among the richest actresses of all time.

Learn about Angelina Jolie’s exciting life and the secrets behind her impressive wealth.

Angelina Jolie Net Worth: $160 Million

Like many celebrities, Angelina Jolie has earned a hefty sum of cash from endorsement deals, including a $12 million contract with St. John and a $10 million deal with Louis Vuitton. However, Angelina Jolie’s $160 million net worth is primarily owed to her work in the film industry.

Despite her impressive wealth, Jolie reportedly described herself as being “quite responsible about money” in a CNBC interview in 2014. Moreover, she is known for making modest financial decisions, such as flying coach with her family in 2015 and driving a Lexus LS 460 F, worth an estimated $90,000 in 2013.

Still, Jolie and Pitt have shown a willingness to splurge on their hobbies and interests. Along with purchasing a $335,000 Cirrus SR22 jet, the couple shelled out for Virgin Galactic tickets to outer space, which reportedly cost $250,000 each. The Jolie-Pitt family also added a full skate park to their Los Angeles mansion.

In addition to homes in Los Angeles, Italy, New York and Malibu, Calif., the couple owns Château Miraval in Correns, France. The 35-room mansion features its own moat and was the location of the couple’s 2014 wedding. The Jolie-Pitt family also owns an 1830s mansion in New Orleans, which was on the market for $5.65 million in December, according to Elle Decor.

Jolie consistently shows up on Forbes’ list of the top 10 highest-paid actresses. Last year, she earned $15 million, which placed her at No. 7 on the list.

Angelina Jolie Movies

Angelina Jolie commands hefty sums for her acting skills. While top actresses generally earn between $10 million and $20 million per movie, according to Forbes, Jolie received $33 million to star in “Maleficent,” although she hadn’t been on-screen for almost four years.

Her earning power is due in part to an ability to pull off diverse roles, ranging from her Oscar-winning portrayal of a psychiatric patient in “Girl, Interrupted” to her role as action heroine Lara Croft in “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.” Jolie is also highly paid because of her success in drawing foreign viewers to theaters.

In its opening weekend, “Maleficent” earned $70 million in North America compared to $100 million abroad, reported Time. “The Tourist” earned 75 percent of it $280 million overseas, according to Forbes. Time said Jolie’s movies had netted $4.88 billion globally as of 2014.

More recently, Jolie provided the voice for Tigress in “Kung Fu Panda 3,” which was released in January and grossed $41.28 million domestically in its opening weekend. Additionally, the star has been spending time on the other side of the camera.

Jolie wrote, directed and starred in “By the Sea” opposite Brad Pitt. She also directed the World War II drama “Unbroken,” which brought in $15.6 million its first day, making it the third-best Christmas Day opening of all-time, according to USA Today.

Angelina Jolie’s Personal Life

While Jolie’s life might appear perfect, the actress has had her share of trials. Jolie suffered a period of depression during which she cut herself, according to People. The actress also endured two failed marriages before meeting Pitt.

Additionally, Jolie has experienced some serious health issues in recent years. After discovering she has a gene that increases her risk of developing cancer, she opted to have a preventative mastectomy in 2014. She went on to have her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed.

The actress reportedly bought her husband an Aston Martin Vanquish Carbon Edition that cost more than $200,000 to thank him for sticking by her side during those troubled times.

Despite her personal struggles, Jolie has gone to great lengths to help others. A well-known humanitarian, Jolie serves as a Special Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. In addition to donating more than $5 million to the agency, she wrote a book based on her early experiences with refugees, all the proceeds of which go to the UNHCR.

Brad Pitt Net Worth: $240 Million

Last year, Brad Pitt earned $16 million, according to Forbes. With a resume that includes action, comedy and drama films, Pitt is a diverse hit-maker, a fact that influences his earning power.

Pitt has a slew of movies under his belt that have topped $300 million, according to Box Office Mojo. Those films include “Inglourious Basterds,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Ocean’s Eleven,” “Ocean’s Thirteen” and “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” the 2005 spy romance that led to Pitt’s real-life romance with co-star Jolie. That movie grossed $478 million.

Like Jolie, Pitt has the talent to attract foreign viewers. “Troy” earned $133 million domestically but raked in nearly $500 million including overseas sales, according to Forbes. “World War Z,” which Pitt produced and starred in, surpassed that record, earning an impressive $540 million.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s Children

The development of the Jolie-Pitt brood is quite the story. Jolie adopted her oldest son Maddox, now 14, from Cambodia, and three years later expanded the family with the adoption of Zahara Marley, now 11. Pitt has since adopted both children.

In 2006, the couple had its first biological daughter, Shiloh Nouvel, who prefers to be called John, according to The Telegraph. The couple adopted Pax Thien, now 12, before Jolie gave birth to twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, now seven.

In January, Jolie made headlines for bringing her kids to the premiere of “Kung Fu Panda 3.” Jolie and Pitt also reportedly bring along a team of nannies and teachers wherever they travel.

According to Jolie, millionaire moms shouldn’t complain about juggling work and family because they have more access, support and leeway than the average woman:

“I’m in a rare position where I don’t have to do job after job,” she told The Daily News in May 2014. “I can take time when my family needs it.”
