Here’s a high-tech way to find out what your kids want for Christmas.
Twilio, a cloud company, has a system that allows parents to schedule an automated phone call from Santa’s headquarters for their children. Then, an automated bot, a squeaky voiced elf, will ask the children what they would like for Christmas. The elf will also ask the child if they’ve been nice, with some cheery holiday music in the background.
“Sorting through a billion letters every winter has become unsustainable at the North Pole,” the project’s webpage read. “This season, Twilio is helping Santa better connect with kids of all ages.”
A recording of the call will then be automatically forwarded to the email of the parent’s choice.
Twilio has dubbed it the SantaPhone project. The company plans to donate $1 for each call made, up to $10,000, to Toys for Tots.
