The elite law school said that it would accept the Graduate Record Examination, or GRE, for students applying to enroll in fall 2018, The New York Times reports.

A statement on Harvard Law’s website said that the move “will alleviate the financial burden” on applicants who would have to pay to take the Law School Admissions Test, or LSAT. The move means that prospective students will no longer have to take the LSAT, although applicants will still be able to submit LSAT scores if they want to.

The move comes as a fierce debate divides the legal world over the tests. University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law took the step last year, but other schools remain divided as to whether to follow suit.

Harvard Law has taken other measures to expand access to its courses, such as conducting Skype interviews.
