Apple introduced new and improved gadgets to the world at its “Unleashed” event earlier this week, like the newly designed 14-inch and 16-inch MacBooks. However, the most groundbreaking new product arrived after the event: Apple’s logo-decorated polishing cloth, of course. 

Its “soft” and  “non-abrasive,” safe for “nano-texture glass,” and really the only material that should be used to clean a long list of Apple products, the company said in describing its fancy $19 wipe. 

A few days ago, the expected delivery date for Apple’s polishing cloth was pushed back to November. But customers who place orders now may have to wait until January. 

Apple didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Maybe it’s the allure of an Apple product under $20. Or maybe it’s the appeal of an exclusively online product that can’t be bought in-store.

To avoid the wait, you can always buy Apple’s Pro Display XDR (starting price $5,000) in standard or nano-texture glass, which comes with a polishing cloth.

For the record, Apple advises against using cleaning solutions on its products because it says they could permanently ruin the screen’s “fingerprint-resistant coating.”

In any case, the new cloth is getting a lot of mileage on Twitter. Some people, it turns out, get excited about cleaning their Apple devices.

Others can’t help but chortle:

If you’re someone who must wait for a polishing cloth to arrive, we can’t help. But there are alternatives available on Grove Co. that, made with microfibers, are said to be safe for all Apple products.
