Good morning!

If you thought finding a remote job in 2023 was tough, 2024 is likely to be even more difficult.

FlexJobs, a career service site specializing in WFH and hybrid roles, found that their remote job postings grew 11% year-over-year between 2022 and 2023, according to a report published earlier this week. That’s only about half the growth those kinds of roles experienced between 2021 and 2022, and the downward trajectory is expected to continue.

But workers still overwhelmingly prefer remote or hybrid roles. Around 51% of more than 8,400 workers surveyed by FlexJobs in a report published last autumn would prefer to work remote full-time, while 46% most preferred a hybrid arrangement. Just 3% of polled workers said they preferred being in the office five days per week.

There are still some bright spots, however, for people looking for companies that favor remote postings. A new ranking released earlier this week by FlexJobs highlights which companies on its platform posted the most remote positions in 2023. Working Solutions, a business that outsources remote customer service agents, posted the highest number of remote job listings in 2023, followed by virtual call center provider Liveops, and CVS Health. A spokesperson for FlexJobs declined to disclose the number of remote jobs posted on the platform per company.

The remaining top 20 companies that posted the most remote roles on the platform are:

1. Working Solutions
2. Liveops
3. CVS Health
4. Robert Half International
5. Williams-Sonoma
6. Thermo Fisher Scientific
7. ModSquad
8. BELAY
9. Cactus Communications
10. Transcom
11. Sutherland
12. BCD Travel
13. Kelly
14. UnitedHealth Group
15. LHH – Lee Hecht Harrison
16. Randstad
17. Creative Financial Staffing
18. Kforce
19. Aston Carter
20. Aquent

The top remote roles posted by companies, according to FlexJobs, were for accountants, executive assistants, and financial analysts. But companies in industries typically associated with in-person work, including healthcare and travel services, also made FlexJob’s top 100 companies ranking.

“Of course, industries like IT, finance, and marketing historically have robust remote offerings, but other industries such as education, healthcare and travel also being great options to explore remote work opportunities speaks to the broad reach of remote work,” says Toni Frana, lead career expert at FlexJobs.

Around 34 companies on the overall ranking of 100 companies were newcomers, including Peloton and Zillow.

“I think this speaks to the fact that remote opportunities remain highly desirable for job seekers and many companies are answering that demand by offering remote options,” says Frana. She adds that companies’ “ability to attract and retain talent by offering remote work options, providing remote work for your employees is a consideration that must be taken into account now and in the future.”
