Tesla CEO Elon Musk said Sunday his company is preparing to make an announcement that will address one of the biggest questions facing electric vehicles: range anxiety, or roughly the fear of running out of juice.
Musk said via Twitter that the company will address the concern with a software update for the entire range of his company’s Model S vehicles. It’s unclear exactly how a software update will deliver better range, but Musk said more details would come at a Thursday morning press conference.

Tesla boosting cars’ performance via software updates isn’t unprecedented. Back in January, the automaker’s already lightning-fast Model S P85D got a 0.1 second acceleration gain thanks to an over-the-air upgrade.
Tesla is already building out electric car infrastructure in the form of “supercharger” charging stations around the country.
In Tesla’s last earnings call, Musk was animated about his plans for the company over the next few years, claiming the company could be as big as Apple in a decade.
