The result? A big-boned sedan that hews back to Cadillac’s roots. Roomy and plush, the rear-wheel-drive CT6 is a far cry from the smaller, lither sedans that the company has been focusing on in the last few years (namely the ATS).

What you’re looking at is a production-ready car from GM, and not a concept vehicle. The four-door will be going on sale soon, and trust that it’s aimed as firmly at the Chinese market as it is American dealerships.

The CT6 will go up against another American premium product that was just revealed: The Lincoln Continental, which was a car that the Ford Motor Company played very close to its chest. The Continental is a very bold concept vehicle. I was wowed and my guess is that the Lincoln will get more attention and positive sentiment than the more modest CT6.

Meanwhile, Cadillac’s new president, Johan de Nysschen, walked us around the CT6 himself, talking about the design and how it fits into the company’s overall portfolio. Nysschen was previously at Audi and Infiniti, and see the video to get his always opinionated viewpoints.

Nysschen says we’ll eventually see the CT6 equipped with an optional four-cylinder engine, and likely also a more powerful V-8. But for now, it gets a twin-turbo V-6 good for 400 horsepower. “It’s lighter than a BMW 5 Series,” he says. “This is for someone who both likes to drive but also enjoys back-seat comfort.”
