Yahoo’s holiday party was a lot more subdued this year, a drastic change from its extravagant 1920’s themed holiday party in 2015.
This year, Yahoo (YHOO) hosted the event at its offices in New York and Sunnyvale, Calif.—not Pier 48 San Francisco, where it reportedly cost the company $7 million to host last year. The office space was transformed into a giant party venue complete with an open bar, lots of food, and a dance floor.

The toned-down party comes after the company announced one billion user accounts were hacked (though CEO Marissa Mayer was criticized for not cutting spending last year amid its overall financial trouble). Since this was Yahoo’s second data breach, (the first occurred in 2014, but was only recently brought to light), Verizon, which agreed to buy Yahoo‘s core internet business in July for $4.8 billion, now wants to amend the terms of the acquisition agreement.
