The two other recalls impact the Ford F-350 pickup truck and the Lincoln Aviator SUV.

In a statement, Ford said the Explorers could suffer from “a seized cross-axis ball joint that may cause a fractured rear suspension toe link.” Drivers should listen for a clunk noise and be on the lookout for unusual handling or a misaligned rear tire. The issue diminishes steering control and could make a crash more likely.

To date, Ford has been made aware of six potential incidents that resulted in injury because of this issue.

Recalls will begin the week of Aug. 23, the company said. The recall affects over 676,000 vehicles in the U.S., with the rest being sold in China, Europe, and South America.

Ford F-350 recall

Ford is also recalling 35,000 Ford F-350 Super Duty trucks with a 6.7-liter engine for a weld issue on the rear axle. Customers may experience vibration and/or shaking while driving at highway speeds, and/or shuddering upon acceleration, the company said.

While Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries, it said it will begin informing affected owners the week of Aug. 16.

Virtually all of the F-350s being recalled were sold in the U.S.

2020–2021 Lincoln Aviator recall

Ford is also warning owners of 41,000 2020–2021 Lincoln Aviators (specifically those with 3.0-liter engines) that their battery cable wire harness might not be properly secured, which could cause an engine fire.

As with the F-350, Ford isn’t aware of any accidents and injuries. Over 36,000 of those vehicles were sold in the U.S. Notifications will begin going out on July 30.
